Pleasure House Point
Despite it’s lewd sounding name, Pleasure House Point is actually a fun spot for bird photography in Virginia Beach. I headed down there with Mechayla in August. It was our first date - and also her first time trying bird photography. She has been hooked on bird photography ever since, and I’ve been hooked on her ever since.
The highlights of the day had to be the plethora of Night-Heron, but we were also surprised by appearances by Snowy Egret, White Ibis, Clapper Rail chicks, and more!
Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge
Before the day was over, we also swung by Back Bay NWR. After accidentally walking past a sign onto a restricted area, we were ushered back by the Park Ranger to a safe area where we photographed shorebirds until the heat overwhelmed us.
